Does my child have a learning difference?
About 1 in 5 kids in the United States have learning or thinking differences. The only way to know for sure whether your child has a learning difference is to speak with a licensed health care provider, such as your pediatrician or school psychologist. But a lot of the parents and caregivers we work with remember noticing several signs and symptoms in their child before there ever was a specific diagnosis.

Reading and Learning Therapy at TPI
Your child’s journey at TPI begins with an initial evaluation by one of our Reading and Learning Therapy experts. This initial evaluation is a one-on-one opportunity for us to get to know your child, identify their specific challenges when it comes to reading and learning, and help them describe and feel excited about their learning goals!
If therapy is warranted for your child, your child’s speech language therapist will then design a treatment plan that will help them develop necessary skills and explore their potential. We implement evidence-based tools and reading interventions that help kids gain confidence and become more adaptive and resilient within their learning environment.
We understand that parents and caregivers know their children best. That’s why we trust and honor your input (as well as your child’s input) as we work together to develop an appropriate reading intervention plan. We want your child to know how rewarding it can be to try hard things and develop new skills! That’s why we take the time to get to know your child’s interests and use innovative tools and strategies to help foster your child’s achievement in and out of school.
We also work in close collaboration with other providers involved in your child’s health and education, including occupational therapists, teachers and school counselors. Whether your child has a formal Individualized Education Program (IEP) or simply needs some additional learning support, our trained professionals are prepared to enhance your child’s academic experience and overall well-being.
